Green & Simple
Greening Atlanta

KIM GORDON

I can’t believe it is already March. This month brings the promise of spring and the very exciting International Window Coverings EXPO (IWCE) in Atlanta, which is hosting the premiere of the Green Design Pavilion, sponsored by TODL.com., as a main show floor destination.

Over the last several months, those of us at TODL have been industriously preparing the debut of our incredible Pavilion at the IWCE. Our team has culled featured products from more than 70 manufacturers and brands, carefully selected for you to touch, learn from, and enjoy throughout the Pavilion. Our office looks like an eco-design studio in full force: countless samples, fabrics, surfaces, window treatments, and more, tirelessly arranged into beautiful displays. Selecting products for the Pavilion really drove home the fact that “green” design has finally merged with high design. We’ll be displaying luxury eco-linens in beautiful colors, gorgeous vases, and accessories created from recycled bottles. The Green Pavilion will also showcase stunning wallpapers created with low-VOC materials, waterborne paints and plasters, organic fabrics, and much more.

All 70+ products will be on display for you to see, touch, and learn how to source and incorporate these products into your designs. Once you know about the cyclical benefits of using eco-friendly products, you’re better prepared to inform—and sell—your clients. And after you’ve fully taken in the displays, we’ve created the beautiful Green Design Resource Guide from TODL to take home (of course, printed on recycled paper with soy-based ink). For those of you who cannot attend the show, we will also make the Guide available to you online.

Some of the companies featured in the Green Pavilion are listed at Kim’s Picks on our site: www.todl.com/kimspicks. Here are just a few to whet your appetite... PURE by Ami McKay: This custom line of residential furniture will be furnishing the Green Design Pavilion—talk about yummy high-design green products! McKay is known for her role on HGTV Canada’s Makeover Wish and is the lead designer of her residential design firm. She has specialized in eco-design for more than eight years, so take advantage of the opportunity to meet her in the Green Pavilion, and be the first to experience these incredible new designs! www.purebyamimckay.ca

Timbron International: Dedicated to producing decorative non-structural wood-alternative products, Timbron aims to minimize the consumption of natural resources. We’re talking about fantastic moldings that you can use in all areas of design—casing, base, crown, and more with multiple profiles to select from. www.timbron.com

Tricycle: Tricycle was founded to create a more sustainable method of carpet sampling. Since 2003, Tryk products have prevented 306,000 pounds of carpet from “gracing” our landfills and saved 51,000 gallons of oil! These guys are performing amazing feats. You’ll be astonished when you see their recyclable paper replicas of carpet samples. www.tricycleinc.com
