HEADBOARD WEEKEND
July’s edition of Window Fashions featured an article about Northfield’s “Headboard Weekend,” telling the story of 46 drapery workroom owners who banded together to create items to donate to the Northfield Foundation. The women donated their time and talents to create rooms full of upholstered furniture and bedding for this Virginia non-profit organization designed to provide a safe haven for young women in need. Here’s even more information about this weekend event.

A Tree for Strickland
Attendees at the Northfield weekend honored Custom Home Furnishings (CHF) Academy founder Cheryl Strickland by planting a Jamestown red maple on the property. At the memorial service, Christine Shepard, event organizer, praised Strickland as “a woman with a dream and a vision—a wonderful example of how, as we go through life, we are touching people’s lives, often in ways unbeknownst to us. Cheryl’s legacy of the Custom Home Furnishings Academy and online Forum has touched thousands of businesses and lives. This weekend was a testament to that legacy, and the fact that the Northfield girls who come to live in this house will no doubt feel the love and compassion with which every headboard, every ottoman, every pillow was made.”
